Sombrio Beach
The green sloth was found a few hours from here. This is the view of Sombrio Beach from the trail. You can see our tent on the beach--it's the yellowy dot in the distance on the beach. The weather was surprisingly decent, although it was a little chilly. The scenery more than made up for my wrong-season sleeping bag, though.
I found sleeping on the beach a little scary, and the first night woke up many times because I was afraid the crashing waves were the tide coming up higher than the predicted 8 feet. It never did, fortunately. It didn't even come close. Thank goodness for accurate math! The morning stillness and lovely view were amazing, though. I'd never really felt the need for a beachfront property, but I've since changed my mind.
